Since 2005, the Millthorpe community has welcomed visitors from far and wide, to take part in the annual Millthorpe Garden Ramble. Garden owners, both within the village and on neighbouring rural properties, open their gates, inviting visitors to wander each unique garden, be it large or small, established or recently created.
Demonstrating the rich garden culture of the Millthorpe area, are the 100+ different gardens that have been open over the years. This is an outstanding number, considering the size of the village! |
However, our gardens are not the only thing on display. Our strong sense of community is demonstrated each year with more than 100 community members giving their time to welcome visitors and ensure the smooth running of Millthorpe Garden Ramble.
Funds raised by the Ramble go towards community enhancement projects, such as the upkeep of Mill Green, improvements to Redmond Oval, donation of wine barrels in the main street, street trees and more. The Ramble Committee, which is a subcommittee of the Millthorpe Village Committee, also donates to the Country Education Foundation, a regional Australian charity that supports and encourages local students to engage in post school education at TAFE, university, or work place training.
